Mary part 2

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
― Lao Tzu

“A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving.”
― Lao Tzu

And she walked. She walked as her hair fluttered in the air; her clothes clung to her body, arms tightly wrapped around her. Mary felt cold wind stroking her skin, wanting to rip her clothes off her, as if she were its enemy. As a few teardrops appeared in the corners of her eyes, the woman continued walking, not stopping for anything. Determination drove her on. Face wiped clean, as if a screen had been pulled down to hide her emotions, she hurried along. It was beginning to get dark, the coming night teasing the sky into twilight. Fear sat heavy on her heart as she walked as fast as she could. Eyes plastered to the floor, she stared at her shoes. The cold painted bright red on her cheeks and the wind threw her hair around aimlessly. She walked in the city like her mother used to drive their old mustang – on autopilot.

She thought of her last encounter, the man who had spoken with her was so handsome. She had many emotions at stake. She thought in Mario. She hadn’t seen him for nearly three months. A dazed expression dominated her features.

–    He is a completely asshole.

She wanted to scream this but she couldn`t. She was so bad. Her feelings were in full bloom.

In the other hand, Peter chased her on the street. She was perfect for him. He had never met a nerd-girl since their meeting.

He had a thin, pointed face, almost femininely sensitive, and a small pointed beard. He was bareheaded except for the narrow golden circlet which he spent most of his waking time scheming to convert into a royal crown. He was anxious for his surprise meeting. It is strange for him because he is the typical man with enough self-esteem to seduce a woman.

–    She is a typical workaholic girl, it would be easy.

Mary stopped. The path ahead was suddenly alive.

“Where are you going?” He asked before he could stop himself. His head cocked to the side, his eyes shifting from the ground to her. Her heart stopped and he could barely breathe.

–    Hey, what`s your problem? Mary said so unbreathing.
–    I`m here for you. Nerd-lady. He said with lot of emotions.
–    No, I told you than it is impossible.
–    Nothing is impossible my lady.
–    I’m guessing you need a ride? He told. His voice was soft-spoken and mellow, sending a warm glow throughout her body.
“How do you know?” She thought but she didn`t say. I need a new adventure in my life.
–    What’s your name?” He told her.
–    Mary.
–    Cute name. She smiled shyly.
–    Well, Will you accept my invitation?
–    Well, I’m not convinced.
–    You need to take some risks.
–    Yes, it`s true but I’m not feel very well.
–    It`s no problem, I will make you feel better.

Immediately, they were into his car. His car was an amazing Mercedes S600. The silver gray Mercedes S600 cruised down the freeway, travelling south. They could feel the power of the car. This was a car that sneered at speed limits. But, he was chary for her comfort.

She thought than he was a great driver because the car had no strange noises in the way.

–    So, what`s your name?
–    Jeje it is a good question honey.
–    Jajaja. She smiled.
–    My name`s Peter.
–    Good name.
–    Yeah, so many times.
He continued driving to Orlando.
–    Where`re we going? She asked.
–    We`re going to my favorite place in the earth.
–    Really? She asked.
–    Yeah, that is a nice site in the south of Orlando. When people think of Orlando, most think of theme parks and a vast urban sprawl but that place is magical.

She was completely amazement.

–    It is the reverence of pleasure, the form of your lips, the ability you have to master complete

It takes a second or two for the new information to sink it, even though it is right before my eyes, larger than life. Then I feel my lips stretch wider into gaping grin and my eyebrows arch for the sky. She’s made it. She’s in the right place. Amazement did quite cover it. She felt like someone just took my spark of wonder and poured on kerosine. The smile than she show on the outside can’t adequately reflect what I feel inside; it’s like every neurone of her brain is trying to fire in both directions at once – the best kind of paralysis. It was a unique sensation which had no comparison.

On the road, they were speaking for four hours.

–    Well Mary, what do you do?
–    I’m journalist in a principal dairy of Miami.
–    Really? I can imagine that. He laughed so sarcastic.
–    Jajaja You`re Bad.
–    Yes, I know.
–    So, please told me all of you?
–    Well, I live in a large house in the center that have two floors, I have a pet call “Sniky”. I usually jogging on Saturdays.
–    Very well, a nice life.
–    No, I want to take more risks.
–    Well, this journey is a risk.
–    Yes, I think so.
–    But, is a great risk for you.
–    Mm

The car stopped in a beautiful place located on the outskirts of the city. The place was quite withdrawn. You could breathe the mountain air with great ease. They got out of the car. Their sentiments were full excited.

They went to a nice park with lot of trees. The park, once resplendent in the town’s heyday was a scrub of moss and weeds. The down and outs jostled each other for a spot on a rusting metal bench, anything to get off the sodden spring ground. Used needles lay amidst the shabby greenery, invisible and able to pierce the common light-weight shoes the children wear. There is a movement to reclaim it amongst the town’s elite, replant the flowers and clear the garbage from the ponds. Maybe it will happen one day, it would be so nice, but for now the rest of us are too busy working three part time jobs to make a full time wage. So we just skirt around it whatever the time of day, no shortcuts, no way, not ever.

The park had an advert that says “Keep right”.

Entering the park, a slight breeze rustles the leaves making them fall to the solid ground one by one. The air was warm, the beams of sunlight glowing on my skin. Flowers are vast, and they conceal the freshly cut green grass. The pathway is nothing more than dirt littered with random rocks. The children are playing and the parents talking among each other. It was a nice place to talk or something else.

The park covered a wide area that could fit about three small houses. It was hilly with a tall tree or two near one hill. There were benches for people to sit in every corner and jogging tracks were all around the edges of the park. The west corner had some swings too on which many children used to come and play. Flower hedges and bushes grew all around; this made the park look more pleasant and attractive. This place would have been most beautiful at this time; it would have been so pleasurable to relax here and take in some cool fresh air but only if bad things were not happening.

–    Come with me Mary. Peter said.
–    We will stay in a picnic.

They were walking for 15 minutes around the park.

When he invited me for a picnic I had imagined something out of Wind in the Willows; a spread of scotch eggs, fresh bread sandwiches, sausage rolls and quiche. When he brought the limp-looking peanut butter sandwiches out of his pockets and thrust one into my hand I quickly swallowed my surprise and forced a smile. His eyes caught mine fleetingly before looking away. He indicated a place where he had spread his coat under a tree and I followed.
–    Well, you are in my favorite place in the world.

The park had a waterfall. The water tumbled down the hillside in a series of mini-waterfalls.  It was some children in this part of the park. The water tinkled in a laughing sort of way and the children imagined that this was the sort of places faeries might live. The rocks were slippery as they crossed the stream but there was an iron rope to hold on to. For their dog it was simply a place for a good drink. As they walked on that music of the woods became ever quieter until they could hear it no more.
