The monogamous devotion

Is having multiple lovers all there is in life? Does it make people feel like they’re on top of the world, that they have so many lovers, that so many people want them? Is it really just an egotistical thing we do?

Or is it something we do just to not feel alone? Do we need to prove ourselves, being intimate, to so many people? Is this what we truly want when we say we need someone special in our lives? Could it be that, it’s just human nature to seek out to have the most of everything, even if we can have the most by just having the least?

What’s so wrong about having just one partner? One loving, caring partner that will please, help, love, fuck and care for us in the same way, or maybe even better and more honestly, than a bunch of lusty lovers, seeking the same attention, would? Wouldn’t it be nice to be truly special and unique in someone’s eyes, and try nothing but our best to impress them and them only? Is this too much to ask, maybe too hard, maybe a bit of a lot of work for some, and then they’re turned off. We love easy things, and we do not like to fight.

Was your last relationship fulfilling? Not only in the having fun, having sex, being in love way but learning. Learning about each other, teaching each other stuff, growing up together to be better people, all while intertwining the love and the passion of the relationship in one. When was the last time you had a relationship like this? Wouldn’t you like to be in something as special?

The sin that is on the verge of disappearing is marriage. Or rather, honest marriage, because a lot of people get married every day around the world. But is this truly what they want? Why marry when they will only cheat and crash and burn their relationship in the end? It is enough to be with your loved one, your special one, even if you’re not married. If the bond joining the two of you together is honest love, you don’t need papers or a big ceremony, or the best instagram pictures, to prove that there is love in the relationship. Why is it that some people need this kind of tangible things to believe in their love, something intangible but tangible at the same time?

Monogamy is having a serious relationship with only one partner. And we should all stop and think of how wonderful it can be. There is nothing wrong with spreading yourself around; but there is something very attractive in being “the one and only” of someone. Devoting your love and your body to someone, even if only for a limited time, can be very sensual, passionate and rewarding.

Yet, it seems like reaching monogamy is difficult for some people. At first, they may seem enchanted, but then someone else comes along and the idea of the first relationship vanish to open up possibilities for other people. What is so wrong about trying with someone you already know, you already have chemistry with, and get along with? Is that new boy or girl gonna fulfill you in the same way?

And then comes heart break. Because there are people who are really hopeless romantics, and dream of their one and only. Men, women, gay, lesbian, any sexuality or gender. There are hopeless romantics of all kinds. They all have their own types and kinks, as well as dreams and goals. Is it bad to want to find someone to share all that with?

If we gave monogamy a chance, maybe there would be more happy endings in the world. Maybe if we gave ourselves the chance to be “locked” to someone in a relationship, we would be able to realize how wonderful they really are, and how much good they do to us, and what wonderful things they can bring to our life. Of course, not everything will be easy along the way, but stuff worth having is always worth fighting for.
