In all my years in healthcare I can 100% say the worst patient family members are patient daughters. These Karens have never been in a position of power before and when they get a little taste of power it absolutely goes to their head. These Karens think because they can make medical decisions for their parents they can boss nurses around. I recall one of these unpleasable Karens mid 30s on my unit. She started out micromanaging everything the nurses did and got worse every day. She progressively became more demanding and started complaining about everything. She then started taking pics and video recording almost all activities. She was at the nurse manager’s office daily reporting nurses for everything.

After a week of dodging her, they finally assigned her father to me. I pleaded with the charge nurse to not to assign her to me, because I wasn’t going to put up with her bullshit. The charge nurse tried to reassign the patient, but the other nurses blatantly refused. So, I go back to the room an hour later to give her father his meds and she lit into me asking me detailed questions about every med. After a few minutes of getting grilled I said LOOK! if you don’t want me to be your father’s nurse that’s fine but You’re NOT going to talk to me like this. She immediately got quiet. I went to check on my other patients. About an hour later she calls me to the room. When I walked in, she was laying on the roll away bed wearing only her panties and no bra. Her dad was asleep. She said to tell the nursing assistants not to do midnight vital signs because they want to sleep. I said ok and left.

A little after midnight she presses the call light calling me to the room again.
